Who we are

We are a membership based professional association representing editors working in print, broadcast and digital media platforms across Ethiopia. We are thrilled to be able to provide a platform for member editors in Ethiopia. Our mission is to create a better media freedom and media independence in Ethiopia. We are committed to promoting the safety of journalists, advocating for an enabling media environment, building capacity of our members and media houses, and networking with media practitioners in Ethiopia who are laboring for a better role of the media in democratic processes of the country and its development trajectory.

We offer our members a variety of resources, support and trainings to help them improve their skills, to succeed in their careers, and to connect with a large network of editors across Ethiopia and the Globe. We are proud to be the go-to organization for editors in Ethiopia, and we look forward to working with all of you to create a better media environment in Ethiopia.

The Guild was founded on October 29, 2019 and registered by the FDRE Agency for Civil Society Organizations under the registrar number 4527.

Membership

Our members share a common passion for promoting media freedom and quality journalism in Ethiopia. By becoming a member of the Guild, you can benefit from our professional development and educational opportunities, resources and tools to succeed in your career and niche in the media. We are proud to be able to offer our members regular guidance, support, and resources, and we invite you to join us in our mission of creating a better media environment and to help empower the gatekeepers of media houses in Ethiopia.

Membership requests are approved by the General Assembly of the Guild, which convenes annually. Once you are approved to hold a membership status, you will be required to pay annual membership fee according to the Memorandum of Association of the Guild and be part of us.
